Information for Residents
The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta takes place from Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th August 2019. With the event attracting some 500,000 visitors over four days, representatives from local communities have been continuing to liaise with the organisers to reduce disruption as much as is possible.
Road closures around Ashton Court Estate will be in place every evening from 7.00pm every evening to allow the safe egress of pedestrians and vehicles from the event site. It is advised that travelling during this time is kept to essential journeys only. The following guidance is also offered to residents living in Long Ashton, Bower Ashton and Leigh Woods.
The Fiesta will once again place no waiting restrictions along Long Ashton Road so that two way traffic can flow through the village during the event.
To assist residents who do not have access to off street parking, specific Residents Parking Zones will be created at appropriate points along Long Ashton Road. The Residents Parking Zones will be clearly sign posted.
In addition (new for 2018) residents living on Parsonage Road and Glebe Road will also be able to apply for a Residents Parking Pass to enable them to park within the Resident Parking Zones.
Residents must apply for a permit to park within these areas by completing this online form. A pass will be returned to you by email for you to print out. Should you require the Fiesta to post you a pass please indicate this on your application.
Space within the Residents Parking Zones is limited and available on a first come first served basis. Parking Enforcement Officers will issue a Penalty Notice to all vehicles parking within these areas that do not display a valid Residents Parking Pass.
Long Ashton residents should also note that access to Bristol between 9.00pm and 11.00pm will not be possible via the B3128 and past The Ashton public house. Instead residents should use Yanley Lane, Wild Country Lane or join the A370 at the Flax Bourton/Barrow Gurney junction. This closure and diversion will be kept to an absolute minimum and emergency vehicles will be granted access.
Parking restrictions will once again be placed as in previous years. Residents wishing to gain access to their properties during the road closure periods are asked to enter Leigh Woods from the Beggar Bush traffic lights, access will not be permitted from the Bower Ashton roundabout. Passes will be distributed to each household prior to the Fiesta, but should you wish to order extra copies, please email email@example.com.
