Beyond the Balloons
This year, the Arena will play host to some stellar entertainment throughout the weekend, including an explosion of energy and colour in the form of North Somerset Samba. They will be heading to the Arena with their upbeat, carnival style samba drumming on both Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th.
Returning to the arena this year, Bristol Sport is bringing coaching and exhibition sessions to the Fiesta with visitors being given the chance to participate in sessions with the Bristol Bears, Bristol City, Bristol City Ladies and the Bristol Flyers. On Thursday, Bristol City will carry out activities with young visitors who would like to join them in the arena, whilst Friday afternoon will offer opportunities visitors to join Coach Pat Lam of Bristol Bears Rugby and the whole squad in the arena, where they will be involved in demonstrations and coaching activities, plus autograph signings.
This year, an all new addition to the Fiesta Arena is The Emoji Company who are bringing along their smiling and winking hot air balloon, as well as pumping up the family fun on the ground with a series of short shows and prize giveaways.
Bringing more entertainment to the skies is the Lightning Bolt Army Parachute Display Team. Established in 1966 the team are experienced in displays of all sizes, and have even starred in Hollywood blockbusters. They specialise in thrilling, high adrenaline shows, which allow crowds to watch in awe, as each jumper exits the aircraft, creates a visible formation and then deploys their coloured parachute before landing in the arena.
The Fiesta’s partnership with Aardman Animations will see the introduction of Aardman’s ticketed Model Making Workshops on Sunday afternoon that will see visitors get creative with clay. Run by Aardman’s team of expert model makers, visitors will have the chance to create some of their favourite characters within the Member’s Enclosure.
In addition to the curation and production of the Nightglows, BBC Radio Bristol will be hosting a range of activities throughout the weekend, from broadcasting live across the event, hosting a acoustic stage showcasing some of their finest BBC Upload artists and Q&A sessions with presenters. Fiesta fans will also get to try their hand at presenting during the weekend in front of their all new green screen.
Eat Natural, Fab and Crew Clothing are all bringing along their own elements to the Fiesta this year, with Eat Natural bringing their Makery on the Move – a pop-up, interactive experience that allows visitors the chance to create their very own, unique breakfast bar. Whilst, Fab will be providing a free Fab extravaganza with their FabLand experience, home to confetti sprinkle geysers, huge Fab lolly mazes, ball pit moats and supersized slides.
For visitors who want to personalise their experience, they can head to the Crew Clothing Bar where they will be offering personalised embroidering on their iconic pique polo shirts, as well as their Putt for your Polo mini golf experience.
There’s a whole world at the Fiesta beyond the balloons, and one of our highlights is the Fiesta bandstand, where you’ll find a vast array of entertainers to keep you captivated throughout the entire weekend. This year, Jelli Records will be filling the Fiesta Bandstand with a great line-up of musical talent, with many of the acts local to Bristol.
